Experience the Tradition and Excitement of Polo
The Camden Polo Club proudly offers a variety of services and events designed to engage polo enthusiasts of all levels—from complete beginners to experienced players. Our programming emphasizes accessibility, education, and community while honoring the rich history of polo in Camden.
Join us every Sunday at 2 PM at the historic Kirkwood Polo Field for our weekly polo matches. These sessions feature a round-robin format that accommodates players of various skill levels.
What to Expect:
Casual yet competitive polo in a welcoming environment
Typically 3-4 chukkers per session
Players rotate teams to ensure balanced competition
Slower pace and modified field size to accommodate developing players
For Players:
Shared pony rental model available—no need to own horses
Appropriate for intermediate riders with basic polo skills
Please contact us 48 hours in advance to reserve your spot
For Spectators:
Tailgating welcome and encouraged
No admission fee (donations appreciated)
Bring lawn chairs and refreshments
Informational materials available for those new to polo
Starting in April 2025, our regular polo sessions will shift to Monday evenings. Please check our calendar for the most current schedule.

Stick and Ball Only ($150)
For current club members looking for dedicated practice time:
Use of club horses for stick and ball practice
Designated practice area at the field
Professional feedback available

Discovery Days Schedule: We host Discovery Days twice monthly throughout the season, typically on alternating Sundays at 2 PM. Please check our calendar for upcoming dates and register at least one week in advance as spaces are limited.
Discovery Days
Our popular "Discovery Days" are designed specifically to introduce the sport of polo to newcomers of all ages and abilities. These special clinics offer multiple ways to engage with the sport, both mounted and on foot.
Discovery Day Options:
Beginner Clinic ($250)
Our comprehensive introduction to polo includes:
Swing lessons on "Woody," our wooden horse practice mount
Foot mallet sessions to learn game rules and basic techniques
Mounted stick and ball practice with one of our trained polo ponies
A supervised mock chukker to experience actual gameplay
Safety equipment provided; please wear boots with heels
On Foot Clinic ($75)
Perfect for those interested in learning the fundamentals without mounting up:
Swing lessons on "Woody"
Foot mallet sessions on proper technique
Rules and strategy instruction
Game observation and analysis
Junior/Youth Horsemanship Clinic ($75)
Specially designed for younger participants (ages 8-16):
Introduction to polo ponies and equipment
Time on "Woody" learning basic swing mechanics
Foot mallet play and rules introduction
Emphasis on horsemanship and safety
Potential pathway to Camden's developing junior polo program

125th Anniversary Celebration - May 10, 2025
Join us for our signature event of the year as we commemorate 125 years of polo history in Camden! This spectacular day will feature:

Traditional divot stomping ceremony

Individual and small group instruction is available by appointment with our professional instructors and visiting pros from Aiken, SC.

Group Lessons: Share the experience with 2-4 friends or family members
Corporate Team-Building: Custom polo experiences for businesses and organizations

We encourage all regular players to register with the United States Polo Association (USPA). Benefits include:
Official handicap rating
Eligibility for USPA tournaments

Support for the continued development of polo in Camden
Current USPA membership fee: $200 (paid directly to USPA after club reinstatement)
